Make a change with Mental Health

Across the UK, business leaders are standing up and warning that ignoring mental health problems in the workplace is no longer acceptable.

The number of employees taking time off for mental health reasons has risen by 30% according to 1,000 business leaders, surveyed for the British Chambers of Commerce in May 2018.  Half of those surveyed admitted that they did not access occupational health support for their staff.  10% said they were not aware of any available support.

THSP Risk Management have been advocates of mental health support for many years now.  We recognise that mental health issues within the workplace reduces productivity, wellbeing and morale.  Because of these issues, we are running a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course in September 2018.  We are aware that many organisations don’t know what to do should they have someone in their organisation suffering from mental health worries.  Each week, one in six of all adults will experience a mental health event, either in work or in our personal lives.  The course will give delegates:

  • An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support

The course lasts for two days and is being held at the Union Jack Club in Central London.  The cost per delegate is £200 + VAT and includes lunch and refreshments on both days.   Once the course has been completed, you will become a certified mental health first aider and be able to offer support to those dealing with mental health issues.

To book your place or to add delegates on to the course, contact THSP’s Training Consultants, Kelly and Hannah on 03456 122 144 or visit training.thsp.co.uk.
